Life Update:
Sickness still comes and goes, but I recently had a solid three days of pure comfort. It was amazing. I felt so reborn and like myself again. I had a couple of those days off, and took full advantage of the physical freedom. I pulled a first and went to breakfast ALONE (but with Parker). It was delightful. Brought a magazine for comfort and sat in the sun of a restaurant eating delicious food. I had a spa afternoon with my dear friend Whitney. Nate and I went to the greatest movie theater with some friends of ours. Spent an afternoon at the beach with my lovelies, Nate and Parker. And hung out with other friends for an evening in. I felt like my normal self again and loved every second. It will be so incredibly nice when I can start feeling that way every day again and get back to living life the way I like it... busy.
Pregnancy Update:
Now for the good stuff.
The Baby: I am 18 and a half weeks pregnant with my sweet little one. We know the gender, but am having a gender reveal brunch with some girlfriends so I will keep it mum until then. I will say at the ultrasound yesterday, baby Smith was being a doll and moving around giving us great poses and views non stop. At one point baby cuddled up in a little ball and just lay there with its head facing the camera, you could see its spine and little legs and feet tucked under its body, and I totally melted. From that pose baby decided to roll over and stretch out and then proceeded to kick its feet back and forth like a frog. Such a movement little baby's do that it made my baby really real to me. I was grinning from ear to ear. The second trimester can tell gender, and most importantly is to check the development of the little one to make sure everything is checking out well. The technician went from baby's heart, to brain, to kidneys, spine, legs, to face and before she would start the check she would say "Ok, lets check out the heart..." and Nate and I would just freeze. She would count and measure and tell us it looked great, to which we both almost did summersaults each time. Baby Smith checked out really well and it looks to be developing healthily with no major defects. I feel so incredibly blessed, it is the greatest news you can tell expecting parents. As the mother, I am so proud of what baby and I are doing together, it is magical.
My Body: The belly has started to pop out, which has been incredibly fun. I swear I feel every week it forms a little more round and full, and I am loving it. The bump really makes things real feeling and helps make the day to day more exciting. I believe I have felt baby move, however it is hard to tell what I am looking for, so I am not sure if it is just my body twitching or the baby moving. But if it is baby movement, it seems as though it is happening more and more frequently all the time. The widening hips have presented the discomfort of back pain and pinched nerves. I currently have no feeling in my right big toe, and I am pretty sure it is because the nerves in my back are totally jacked. Back pain is just making a little preggo waddle come out from time to time which is hilarious. I am still not craving much of anything, more still food aversions. I will say, red meat is tasting quite delicious though.
And for those pics that every preggo has to do... the belly growth...
