Oh how I love weekends. I think after working for over ten years now to support myself I am finally getting the hang of work hard/play hard. To try and minimize as many responsibilities as often as possible on days off really allows for mini vacations, thus making all of the other hard working days worth it.
This weekend Nate's family came to town again. This time it was his Mom, Brent, Karly and and Ryan and we did what we do best as a group of six and ATE a TON. We went to the Village (a new FAVORITE of mine here in the valley... the food is memorable), Mr. Chow (hands down a long time favorite for Nate and I. We were so excited to share the goodness with his family... who of course loved it), and then the always satisfying Le Pain Quotidian. Unfortunately Nate and I had to work throughout the day hours while they were here, but we managed to make the most of our time together and had a great visit!
Sunday ended up being a heater. Reaching over 100 degrees, we decided to hit the beach with a bunch of friends. It was a first for Nate and I to go to the beach with little kiddos, and we loved it. Definitely a different experience than a relaxing book and some tunes playing in your ears, but we really loved experiencing the gritty sand, and crashing waves with two of the cutest little girls we know. Of course it doesn't hurt that their parents are rad and we love spending time with our dear friends.
Here are a few snapshots of our weekend...
Momma and the baby reunited. And it feels so good! (He was on vacation at Nana and Papa's house for two weeks.)
An orange night fall means a hot day is coming... in this case- 100 degree hot.
What can't Nate excel at? Here is a guy that doesn't really have any training with kids, and yet he was a natural this weekend with Mara and Elsie. Both girls were all over this big guy and he was eating it up.
