The Ellen Show

I was chosen to attend the Ellen show for mothers day this year, which means I was gifted loads of things for baby boy.  We have some friends that were able to do this show, so as soon as we got pregnant we started discussing how we would ensure our place.  You have to write in a letter of why you should be chosen, Nate and I went back and forth on what to write for ages.  Do we make up an elaborate story?  Do we just give it to them straight - we just really want to go on the show.. ?  After some thought we decided we didn't want bad karma if we made something up.  So I wrote a little diddy on our little family, sent in my photo and waited.  And lo and behold... we were picked!

The day of was crazy.  I took the day off of work, rented a car and drove down to the studios in Burbank.  Ended up waiting to be seated for a couple of hours which seemed like forever.  Then as they sat us in a holding room, they went around and choose a few people to stand off to the side.  I was one of those and did just that.  I felt so huge at this point I made a comment to the other girls that I really hoped we were going to be sat towards the back as I did not want to be on camera.  Just as I said that they took our group in and led us down to the front rows and sat us in seats.... arg.  I may have been one of the few that didn't want front row seats and sure enough I got them.

Once Ellen came out the taping went fast and smooth.  It was really fun to see such an entertainment icon these days in action. She does a great job at what she does.  We ended up getting:

A sleep number mattress
High Chair
Rockaroo swing
Crib
Crib mattress
Baby Monitor
Stroller
A beautiful gold necklace
Loews Gift Card
DSW Gift Card
Bedding Gift Card
Baby food for a year Gift Card
Baby Clothing Gift Card
Babies R Us Gift Card
Baby shoes
Diapers for 6 months (our favorite thing we got)

After the show we all waddled out to the parking garage to start the line up (in our cars) to pick up our loot.  It was a nightmare.  I sat in my car in a garage structure, not able to move because of all the cars trying to do just as I was doing, for FOUR HOURS.  No food, no company.  Being 9 months pregnant, sitting and without food for hours is probably the worst thing ever.  I eventually had to call Nate who was at a work event about 40 min away to leave his event, pick me up food and drive through rush hour to feed me.  It was awful.

All and all the day required loads of waiting around.  It was quite a production to be a part of the show, but Nate and I were so grateful to have been chosen to attend and receive all of the generous gifts.

I have never been around so many pregnant women at one time in my life.  It was pretty entertaining. (This is us waiting to be sat before the show.  We are int he parking garage.)
