Merry Christmas To All

Christmas was so much fun this year, and very eventful.

The events went as follows---

Wednesday eve 12/21- I came home from Colorado a hot emotional mess from being torn away from my family.  Yes, I said torn.  Even though it was all planned and voluntary, this is how it felt.  BOOO.  After a long drive in traffic to get home I was greeted by a very happy and excited Nate Smith.  He had just finished last min. pick ups for Christmas and wanted to celebrate our part of the holiday together.  At first I was reluctant because I felt so sad and so not in the Christmas spirit but decided it may just be the best way to get me to a happy place.  So, we ordered Sushi, I had a meltdown right in the middle of dinner.. haha, put Christmas Music on, lit all the Christmas smelling candles turned on the Christmas Tree lights and got ready for some serious celebration.  I must have been a VERY good girl this year.  I made out big by my Santa Nate, he is so sweet, thoughtful and generous.  He even hooked me up with fillings for each of my cavities and with the hair extensions I have been wanting so badly.  I was pretty thrilled with the gifts I got him too, which he seemed to really enjoy.  Yay us!

Thurs- we worked

Friday- we worked but AFTER work I went to Drybar, then we loaded up Nates car and headed up to Fresno.  It was a great drive with great company.

ST. NICK NIGHT/DAY
As German tradition would have it, stockings are hung and filled on Dec. 6th.  I grew up LOVING this tradition, so it is a MUST to pass on to my little family.  It is the best way to jump start the holiday month.

Christmas in Fresno
Saturday- CHRISTMAS EVE!!  John, Laurie, Karly, Ryan, Nate and I all went to lunch at Pismo which is a fantastic seafood restaurant.  Then the afternoon was spent in Gingerbread making.  It was a contest and we really went all out.  John even brought out power tools to reconstruct his gingerbread track home (lol- thats the architect in him!).  After it was all said and done we had voters come over and.... drumm rollll....... Nate and I won!  A big $100 as first prize- not bad!  That evening we watched Christmas Vacation- Grandpa Dick was LOVING it, and ate the most amazing thing I have ever had- Laurie's Cioppino and grilled oysters.  Oh my goodness---- I was in such a food coma and it was amazing!!  That night we opened gifts, reenacted the Laurie/John proposal, and really enjoyed each others company.  Thank you everyone for the thoughtful gifts!!

Christmas in LA
Sunday- Nate and I went to church which I loved.  Then drove back down to LA where Barbara and Brent and our little pooch were waiting for us.  They arrived early to start cooking Christmas night dinner- it turned out sooo stinking good.  We opened gifts, played a really fun game (laughed soo hard- reminder- Dumbo being known for his oh so famous feather NOT his ears- thank you for that memory Barbara) and really enjoyed each other's company.  Thank you everyone for the thoughtful gifts!

We have a great Smith/Calver family and Nate and I are so blessed to be a part of each of your lives!

I miss you my family-- MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  1. I love all the great pics! And yay for the sweet dental gift! So cute. I'm still dragging my feet for mine! I love the gingerbread houses! I so badly wanted to do one this year, but with all the travelling, it didn't happen. I even baked the gingerbread from scratch then had to toss it all. Boo. On the other hand two years in a row and it looks like you guys are turning out to be quite the professionals!! Though, I must say that Karly and Ryan should deserve an honorable mention! Haha, awesome. So glad you are so well taken care of with your new (er) family. I love you and can we please Skype soon? I have been craving Haydee talk time!
