This past weekend some dear friends of ours got married (for the third time). They had a Civil wedding first, followed by exchanging of the vows a month later, and then almost a year later they did a church wedding with a reception. I was lucky enough to be a Maid of Honor for the grand event so I got to be a part of a solid two days of celebrations.
The Friday before the wedding was rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It took me a solid 3 FREAKING hours to get from Studio City to Palos Verdes (typically a 45 min drive). By the time I arrived I was 45 min late and so frazzled and irritated. Luckily Tatiana was stuck in the same ridiculous traffic and we arrived within minutes of each other, equally as crazed. Tatiana's approach to shaking it off was just what we needed to break the full groups frustrations with timing. She was bouncing off the walls and by the end of the rehearsal we were all laughing (with the exception of the church coordinator who literally told Dominique she had back up bridesmaids if Tat and I didn't work out. She was rude. And did not like us).
That eve after rehearsal dinner at The Strand Dominique, Tatiana and I went back to the Terrenea and had a slumber party. It was late, and we were all tired but it was so fun to be a girl again and climb into a king size bed and laugh and talk all night long (with bags of candy and macaroons covering the bed).
Saturday morning started perfectly. We opened the blinds looking out to the ocean, turned on some Jack Johnson, ordered pastries and breakfast and watched Dominique start the beautifying process with her hair/makeup girl. The peacefulness lasted only a second though as one by one photographers, videographers, family members, and room service people started piling up into the small room resulting in the beginning of wedding chaos. The hours ticked by really fast at that point as Tat and I took over the bathroom getting ready and then ran out the door to commence the wedding ceremonies.
The ceremony was lovely and the cocktail hour and reception to follow were just as great. Tatiana and I had so much fun giving our speeches and dancing the night away with the rest of "the girls". My boy Nate is a dancing king and the two of us sweat it out all night long when he was not hamming it up with the dudes.
It was really great to have a lot of one on one time with T and D. It was almost like it filled my cup of missing bonding and we came out of the weekend with so much love and admiration for each other. Good weekend.
